Groningen second cultural city in the Netherlands

Groningen is the second cultural city in the Netherlands, as was shown from the ‘De culturele kaart van Nederland’ (The Cultural Map of the Netherlands) study by the Atlas voor gemeenten agency.
In compiling the priority list, the cultural amenities in the area of stage art, visual art, heritage, arts and film was considered. The number of rock concerts, art galleries, artists, antiquarian bookshops, libraries, museums and cinema chairs are also of importance.
Amsterdam came in first and Utrecht is third.
