According to tradition, on Good Friday, on 6 April 2012, Groningen city centre is all about flowers and plants during the annual flower market. This is the largest flower and plant market in the north of the Netherlands.

From 23 through 25 March, the Der Aa-kerk in Groningen city centre will be the backdrop of the annual Whisky Festival Noord Nederland.

From 15 through 18 March 2012, Martiniplaza will be all about Wonen&Co de Beurs; a four-day event featuring design, vintage items, the latest in the area of country life, sustainable living, designs by young talented designers, cooking demonstrations and workshops.

From 1 March, the Noord Nederlands Toneel (North Netherlands Theatre Group; NNT) will stage a new performance: Hamlet.
In Ola Mafaalani’s production, Shakespeare’s Hamlet will receive an entirely new dimension.

On 4 March, Snowdrop Sunday is held in four east Groningen gardens, when the gardens participate in the fifth bulb route.
