The Oldambt region is considered the granary of the Netherlands. With its extensive colza fields that colour vivid yellow in spring, this region also includes dyke lines that indicate the various reclamations and can be seen up as far as the area surrounding the Dollard inlet.
There are historical mansions throughout the entire region, but there is also space for the construction of new development. An entirely new residential area has recently been created under the name of Blauwestad. The project also includes the development of a scenic and recreational area and the old Oldambtmeer Lake, which has every facility necessary for a day of water sports activities.
